In 2020 I had the opportunity to accompany 21 travelers (now friends) to the Galapagos islands as part of a tumbuh odyssey (tumbuh.org). One of the many experiences that surprised us during our time on the islands was how nature would just come to us.
It's hard to describe the intimacy, playfulness, and at times transcendence that many of us felt with so many of the beautiful creatures of the Galapagos. My transcendent moment came one day when I was floating above a giant sea turtle.
AR creates opportunities where the intimacy, playfulness, and maybe even transcendence in nature can be shared beyond the borders the physical world. I hope somehow as we spend more time in the digital world we can always remember and care for the beloved creatures of the natural world--with whom we live, and move, and have our being.
